In my mind this song is a visual of the deserts of Lawrence of Arabia and the wild abandon of hopelessness. Out of time and out of love one gets drunk, and with the glass as a crystal ball, the imagination will delight in inventing your old lover in the arms of a new one laughing. The title of the song is a phrase that means you have an obscure or imperfect vision of reality. In love still with that angel face, as the splinter of heartbreak grows and festers, the memory is forced against the contrasting reality.
